This piece retains some of the interesting raw textures of the jade river stone as found in a wild Nelson river. It is known by Maori as Pakohe, geologically as argilite. She has added an exquisite detail of an inlaid flower jade disc with beautiful variegated colours.
Complete with an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, it also includes a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carving. Â
